Recently, the most famous pastry chefs in France have been posting in social many savory recipes like: sandwiches, appetizers, and even savory tart. I found this recipe by Michalak particularly tasty and I make it every time I feel like having a picnic.
Savory carrot tart
- Preparation time: 10 minutes+baking time
- Ingredients for a 24 cm baking pan
- Difficulty: Easy recipe
- Ingredients
- 1 roll of puff pastry
- For the filling:
- 250 gr of cream cheese
- 1 tablespoon of turmeric
- 10-12 medium-sized carrots
- Salt to taste
- Chili powder to taste
- Chestnut honey to taste
- Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Wash the carrots well. Boil them in boiling water for ten minutes. Drain and cut them into sticks.
- Roll out the puff pastry thinly, prick the bottom with a fork.
- Mix the spreadable cheese and turmeric in a bowl. Season with salt and chili pepper.
- Pour the sauce on the bottom, arrange the carrot sticks on top and bake in the oven for thirty minutes.
- Glaze the carrots by brushing them with a teaspoon of chestnut honey diluted with a teaspoon of water.
- Serve warm.
Tips to ensure the success of the dish:
- I love the combination of sweet vegetables with chili pepper. I always serve carrots and pumpkin with chili pepper. If you don’t like it, you can replace it with pepper.
- If the sauce is too firm to spread, you can soften it with a couple of tablespoons of milk.
- The cooking time in the oven is indicative because each oven cooks differently.
