Spoon desserts are frothy or creamy cakes that for this reason must be served with a spoon and not with a fork. Many of the spoon desserts should also be served cold.
It seems that their advent came at the end of the seventeenth century. On the other hand, in the 1900s, the most famous recipes for spoon desserts are: the Zuppa inglese and the Tiramisu, probably the most well-known Italian desert abroad.
